Whisky

Skye boasts three working whisky distilleries - the well established Talisker and Torabhaig Distilleries and relative newcomer Raasay Distillery. All three are open to the public and offer a wonderful whisky trail for visitors to follow.

Hiking

There are countless walks you can complete on the Isle of Skye - from the leisurely afternoon beach stroll to more challenging guided walks in the mountains and hills. Whichever you choose you are guaranteed breathtaking scenery in the freshest of air. Just don't forget to bring a strong pair of boots and a waterproof coat.

Climbing

Skye's Cuillin Ridge offers some of the best climbing available anywhere in the World. Mountaineers from all over the globe are attracted the Island to experience The Ridge as well as Skye's numerous other peaks and the Munros.


The majestic Cuillin mountain range dominates the skyline in all seasons and is particularly dramatic when covered in snow.

 

Not for the inexperienced or faint-hearted there are plenty of guided trips available for those wishing to challenge themselves to routes such as the infamous Inaccessible Pinnacle.

Eating

Eating on Skye is always great whether it's a simple tray of fish and chips down by the quay or an elaborate fine dining experience in one of its six Michelin-rated Restaurants.

 

The abundance of local produce from top quality island-reared beef to freshly caught fish and seafood ensures the talented Island chefs have plenty to inspire and tempt you with.

Crafts

Skye is home to a highly creative community of artists, craft makers and photographers who make and sell their beautiful work.

There are dozens of galleries and workshops dotted around the island with most of them welcoming visitors to view and buy handmade goods. Be sure to look out for the 'Gallery' signs as you travel round the Island.
